Royal Holloway in the league tables

windsor building

As one of the UK's top research-intensive university institutions we are acknowledged worldwide for our high-quality research and excellent record in teaching quality across the full range of courses in all three faculties.

Top Tier in the UK

Royal Holloway is ranked 22nd out of 113 UK university institutions in the Complete University Guide sponsored by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and published in The Independent in May 2009 - see http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.org.uk/

The Guardian University Guide 2010 published in May 2009 ranks Royal Holloway 31st.

In the Times Good University Guide 2010, published in June 2009, Royal Holloway is ranked in 30th position in the country.

The Sunday Times Good University Guide published in September 2009 placed Royal Holloway 35th out of 122 UK institutions.

Our academic departments are regularly placed in the top ten for subject specific tables in these newspaper rankings.

Top 20 for Research

Royal Holloway is in the top 20 with world-leading research across all three faculties, according to the most recent Research Assessment Exercise - RAE 2008. The College is ranked 16th in terms of research of 4* - the highest standard possible. See RAE 2008

Top 3 for Graduate employment

Royal Holloway was ranked third among over 90 universities in England and Wales for the proportion of its students who go into graduate employment, according to official statistics for 2007. This reflects the importance we place on enhancing graduate employability through our excellent Careers Service.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency Performance Indicator on Employment of Graduates measures the percentages of those working and studying as a percentage of those working, studying or seeking work after six months. Our graduates are clearly going on to thrive in the job market.

High Student Satisfaction

The results of the first National Student Satisfaction Survey were published in October 2005 and Royal Holloway students gave us a big vote of confidence rating the College 5th equal in the BBC league table of UK universities, alongside institutions such as UCL, Exeter and Durham. You can view the table online at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4265894.stm

Since then, Royal Holloway's students have continued to express high levels of satisfaction (85% overall satisfaction in 2009) with their academic experience through the annual survey. This survey is important because it is a completely independent exercise allowing students who have completed their courses to rate their experiences on a number of different aspects of university life. It aims to help prospective students to make informed choices about what and where they study, and compare results by institution and by subject on the Unistats website.
