Faculty of Arts – What we do

Field-leader in Arts and Humanities

The Arts Faculty comprises departments of Classics, Drama, English, Media, Modern Languages and Music. Scholars within the faculty are world-class researchers, and this expertise is used within their teaching. It is possible to study for either single subject degrees or a combination of joint degrees across the faculty. The departments frequently review the courses on offer to ensure that their curricula is innovative and optional units allow for students to develop particular strengths and to be taught by experts within the field.

Excellence in Creative Arts

The departments of Drama, Media and Music are each listed in the top ten departments in the country for their research, with Music placed as first within its field. This makes Royal Holloway one of the strongest centres for creative arts in the country. All three departments offer courses for undergraduates and post-graduate masters and research programmes.
