The Department of Drama and Theatre at Royal Holloway is the largest research-intensive drama department in Britain, and its research has always been at the cutting edge. With 25 academic members of staff, including eight professors, the department offers teaching and specialist supervision across an exceptionally wide range of subjects. With currently 85 research students, and a highly developed programme of postgraduate training, we offer postgraduate students membership of a vibrant academic community which encourages a constant exchange of ideas. Our undergraduate programmes offer a wide range of courses in the practice, theory and history of drama and theatre. All courses are taught by specialists and emphasize practice-based critical understanding.
The department is situated in an eighteenth-century building in a leafy environment, but offers easy access to the resources of central London. The department is located on a residential campus built around the famous Founder's Building, and is well resourced, with a new workshop, six technical staff, and three major performance spaces.
The department is a friendly and cohesive place, and you will be assured of a warm welcome when you contact us. We hope you will enjoy browsing through this site.
