MA CREATIVE WRITING: COURSES

EN5118 Fiction:

This is a weekly three-hour workshop, in which work by the students will be discussed. Students will be involved in the regular production of work for this.

EN5112 Poetry:

As above - except that students will produce poetry rather than fiction.
NB Students take either fiction or poetry.

EN5113 Practical Work Project:

From May to September, students will undertake a major writing project (under supervision). In addition to an extended fiction or poetry project, students will also be required to produce a critical and/or theoretical piece of writing reflecting on their project.

EN5114: Supplementary Discourse: Core Course

This is a weekly seminar in the Autumn Term. It involves critical and theoretical reading designed to supply students with appropriate critical and theoretical discourse for discussing their own work and others. Students will need this for the Practical Work Project.

EN5116 Reading as a Writer:

This is a weekly seminar in the Spring Term. In this students will read a selection of contemporary fiction and poetry from the perspective of a writer.

EN5117 Dissertation:

Students will be required to produce a critical and/or theoretical piece of writing reflecting on their Practical Work Project.
