Introduction The structure of a module |
|
As we saw earlier, the MSc Information Security is made up of a number of modules. There are four core modules comprising the Core element, which are compulsory, and a number of optional modules, with a choice of two of these comprising the Options element. There is also the Project element. Each module is a collection of related content, so they come in different flavours. This is reflected in the style of the content: some are more technical, others are more discursive. Some are more theoretical, others are more based on case studies or applications. The degree programme structure and the assessment criteria have been carefully designed to ensure you study an appropriate range of modules and acquire a broad range of skills. Modules have a number of common properties, relating to their delivery mode and how they are assessed. On campus a module would involve 33 hours of lectures, delivered over an 11 week semester. On this distance learning MSc a module will be available online from Sept to May over a period of 35 weeks and have its own online seminar activities. For both campus and distance learning students, modules are examined at the same time from mid to late May. It is important to understand the structure of a module. The next screen provides you with more detail. |
