2.3 Travel from Airports

The easiest and most convenient way to travel to the College will depend upon your port of entry and your time of arrival.

Travel from Airports

The nearest airport to the College is Heathrow Airport. Royal Holloway offers a transportation service from Heathrow Airport on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 2008 from 0700 to 1900. If you want to use the Airport pick-up service, please click here for further details. There is no charge for this service. Students arriving at airports other than Heathrow cannot be met upon arrival. However, students can make use of airport link buses from these airports to Heathrow and can be met at Heathrow Terminal 1 to be taken to the College on the Saturday. The other London airports are a very considerable distance from the College and you should be aware that travel by taxi from these airports will be £60 or more depending upon the airport at which you arrive. The following web site provides details of bus travel in the UK www.nationalexpress.com.

If you arrive on any day other than 20 or 21st September 2008, a pick-up service is not available and you will need to make your own way to the College. It is recommended that you do not catch a black taxi from the airport, as this will be very expensive. Call a local taxi company, Gemini Taxis, telephone 01784 471 111 or email geminicars@btconnect.com, who will charge about £22 for a taxi from Terminals 1 - 4 (£18 from Terminal 5) at Heathrow airport to the College (the driver will meet you inside the airport for an extra £8). These rates normally apply from 6am- midnight.

Alternatively, make your way to the main coach station at Heathrow Central Bus Station and catch the 441 bus (timetable), which stops in front of the main campus and runs from 0730-1830 Monday to Saturday or 1000-1800 Sunday.

Travel by Train

The closest train station to the College is in Egham, about a 15-minute walk from the campus. The Egham station is on a main line which connects to London Waterloo and Reading. The cost of the journey will depend upon where you are travelling from, and the day and time in which you are travelling. The following web site give rail travel information www.thetrainline.com
