Principal's Loan Fund

The University can provide loans of up to £500 to students in financial difficulty, to assist in cash flow problems such as awaiting late student loans, funds from parents or money from abroad. This is an interest free loan which is to be repaid by the date agreed and is subject to the following:

• Failure to repay the loan on the agreed repayment date will render the student a College Debtor and they will be subject to the rules and regulations associated with that status.
• Please Note: Undergraduates applying for any loans will be expected to repay by the end of the term. College funds are not available to anticipate students’ summer earnings. Undergraduates applying for a loan during the summer term will only be granted under exceptional circumstances and will be expected to repay the loan before the next term starts.

If you require a short term loan please make an appointment to see the Student Funding Adviser.You can download the application form below or alternatively go along to Founders West 150 to collect a form. Please fill in all parts of the application form to question 15.

• Please note cheques will be available for collection after 2pm on Fridays.
• You must have your loan approved by the previous Friday in order for your cheque to be ready at this time.
• If forms are returned and agreed upon after Friday a cheque will not be ready until Friday of the following week at the earliest.
• Cash requests of up to £50 are available as early as two afternoons after the request.
• The Student Union Welfare Office may also provide - within its office hours - £50 cash in exchange for a post-dated cheque presented with a supporting cheque guarantee card
• Anyone who has in anyway defaulted on a repayment due date may not be considered for another Principal’s loan in the future.
• PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION:
  YOUR COLLEGE CARD AND CONFIRMATION OF YOUR STUDENT LOAN (Payment schedule letter/Student notification).
• Students must have no outstanding college debts in order to be eligible for the loan!
