Procedure for Disposal of IT equipment
The IT Department is currently working with Facilities Management to provide a central service for PC and other IT kit disposal.
Until this procedure is finalised , any IT equipment that is surplus to requirements should be disposed of as follows:
- Data must be removed
- Equipment should be assessed and either donated to Computeraid International or disposed of
This should be done by a department’s local IT staff where they exist or by contacting the IT Department via the IT ServiceDesk.
Specification of Equipment that can be donated to Computeraid International
- All equipment must be in working order - charges will be incurred if kit is donated that does not work or meet the minimum specification.
- PC Base Units, Laptops: Pentium IV or the equivalent in Celeron or AMD computers and laptop computers.
- Monitors: Working 15 and 17 inch (no larger) monitors, manufactured in 2002 or later.
- Other Equipment: Peripherals such as hard drives, cables, keyboards, memory, mice.
- Note that printers, scanners and other office equipment will not be accepted.
