CampusAnywhere

RHUL Computer Centre VPN Service:

The VPN (Virtual Private Networking) Service allows people connecting from outside of the RHUL to access restricted college services and information, such as files shared on Windows PCs, Y Drives and restricted web pages.

Your external computer is given the appearance of being part of the RHUL campus network, thus avoiding firewall defences and IP based restrictions.

Prerequisites:

  • You already need to be able to connect to the internet. Either via Broadband ( eg. BT based line or Virgin Media etc.), dial-up or through another institution's network connection.

  • You must have a RHUL username and password issued by the Computer Centre.

  • If you are running or Windows XP/NT/2000 then you must be an administrator of the machine to install the VPN

  • If you are running Windows 98 or ME you will need to have your Win98/ME CD to hand). VPN is not supported under Windows 95.
