| Working off campus
A large number of reputable local companies recruit part-time
staff through 'Job File'. This is available from the Education
and Welfare Office of the Students' Union. Royal Holloway guidelines limit the number of hours that you can work to 16 hours per week during term-time in order that your academic study does not suffer as a result of paid employment. You will need to have a National Insurance number before you start working. Home students should already have their NI number and EU students can obtain one by visiting the Benefits Agency in Woking with their passport or National Identity card. Details of how to get to the Benefits Agency are available from the Students' Union Welfare Office. Government regulations have recently changed to allow non EU students to work part-time in the UK. Further details are available from the Students' Union Welfare Office. Also do not forget that the more you earn in the vacation the more funds you will have during term-time when your availability for paid work will be much more limited. |
