The Study Abroad Social Programme

A popular feature of the Study Abroad Programme is a dedicated programme of social events. This programme runs throughout the year and includes a mixture of campus-based activities and excursions further afield. Students can participate, for example, in day trips to sites of historical and cultural interest within the UK, such as Hampton Court (a royal palace created by Henry VIII), the Tower of London (home of the priceless Crown Jewels) or to the medieval walled city of Canterbury.

Such visits are purposefully structured to give overseas students some basic background information on the main points of interest to explore, as well as guided tours of the sites tailored to engage the curiosity and involvement of university students.

Theatre trips are also a popular feature of the Programme, and recent shows have included The Lion King and We Will Rock You.

While it is not compulsory to take part in all or any of the events, the social programme provides an easy means to network with other students and to be exposed to different aspects of the richness of cultural life in the UK.

In most cases, all participation costs are included in the programme fee.
