Seven trophies one weekend, Royal Holloway 'Tom Cats' Cheerleading squad fly high over the Easter weekend.
Twenty-six Royal Holloway Tom Cats Cheerleaders spent their Easter Weekend this year doing something truly amazing; they became 'Champions'. The club entered three teams into two BCA (British Cheerleading Association) competitions; stunt, cheer, and dance. The first competition was the BCA University Competition where teams from Universities all over the country came to compete against one and other.
The stunt team blew away its competitors in an outstanding perfect performance, easily snatching the first place position and going down as the first win in Royal Holloway Cheerleading history. The cheer team followed the stunt team’s example and bought us our second first place trophy of the day. Competing against ten other teams the dance team were awarded runners up. Entering the second competition, BCA Midlands Classic, on a high we knew the competition was tougher with many non-university teams against us. Although we thought it was not possible, the stunt team performed their best performance yet and bought home our third first place trophy. In addition, they brought home an unexpected trophy – highest basket toss! Our amazing stunt flier Francesca Gumbs was thrown higher than anyone else at the BCA competition and we’ve counted that as our fourth first place trophy.

Incredibly, the cheer team once again fought their way to victory bringing us our fifth first place, With a determination to win, the dance team managed to secure the top position in their division bringing us our sixth first place trophy - placing us as grand champions of the BCA Midlands Competition. The hard work exerted during the weeks leading up to the competitions really paid off as we bought home seven trophies, an outstanding record breaking victory for the club who had never won before.
