We’re just seven miles away from London Heathrow Airport| so you can jet off abroad at any time with little hassle.

You can grab a taxi at the airport but it’s worth checking the fare in advance as it can work out cheaper to call one of Egham's local taxi services as some offer deals to our students.

Alternatively, you can catch bus number 441 from Heathrow Central Bus Station to Royal Holloway or bus number 71 from Terminal 5.

From Gatwick Airport|, you can take a bus to Heathrow and then follow the above procedure or call a taxi.

The College is connected by fast rail links to the rest of the country, with connections available at both London and Reading stations.

There are four trains an hour from London Waterloo to Egham (40 minutes), Reading to Egham (40 minutes) and Woking to Egham (35 minutes: change at Weybridge). You can also reach Twickenham (17 minutes) and Richmond (20 minutes) as well as Clapham Junction on the Egham- London Waterloo train for extra attractions and transport links.

Services at weekends, especially those on Sunday, are less frequent than on weekdays. Eurostar services to mainland Europe also operate into and out of St Pancras International, London.

Top tip for students: If you are aged between 16 and 25 years, you can get a third off of your rail fares by investing in a Young Person’s Railcard, which costs around £28 a year.

There is a taxi rank just outside Egham station where you can easily find a cab to take you to campus for £5-£6.

If you’re travelling from Royal Holloway to Heathrow, you can expect to pay £18-£20 depending on which terminal you need.

Gemini Cars offers a special discount to Heathrow if you show your NUS card.

Top tips for students: Most taxis are safe but you should take some precautions, especially if you’re travelling alone. 

Make sure you get into a licensed cab, if you are unsure book in advance and check which type of car will be picking you up.

Have your money ready before you reach your destination, get out of the cab and pay the driver. It is also advisable to agree a price with the cab firm before you depart.

The College is about a mile from the station, which is around a 20 minute walk.

The easiest route to follow is to

• Turn right out of the station along Station Road and walk about 100 yards to the junction and traffic lights
• Turn left at the junction and follow the road around to the large roundabout with a petrol station on the left. Walk up Egham Hill (A30) and follow the footpath
• The main College entrance is on the left immediately after the second footbridge.

We are within a few minutes of the M25, M3 and M4.

The College is on the A30, 19 miles from central London and about a mile south-west of the town of Egham. It is two miles from Junction 13 of the M25 (London Orbital).

Directions from the M25

• After leaving the M25, follow the A30 west (signposted Bagshot and Camberley); this is the Egham by-pass
• At the end of the Egham by-pass, continue on the A30 up Egham Hill (a petrol station is on your left)
• The main College entrance is on the left immediately after the second footbridge.

Directions from the west

• Leave the M3 at junction 3, at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A322
• Proceed under the road bridge and turn left, then merge onto the A30
• At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A30
• Continue on the A30, through Sunningdale towards Staines
• The main College entrance is on the right immediately before the footbridge.

Avoiding the M25

• To avoid the M25 when travelling from the South or South West on the M4 or the M3, take the A329(M) from the M4 at junction 10, or the A322 from the M3 at junction 3 
• The A329(M) becomes the A329 at Bracknell, and then the A322, and connects with the A30 at Bagshot. Continue on the A30 through Sunningdale and Virginia Water towards Staines-upon-Thames and you will pass the College campus
• To avoid the M25 from the M40 coming from the Midlands, leave the M40 at junction 4 on to the A404 towards Maidenhead. Join the A308 at Maidenhead which will take you through Windsor and Old Windsor. Turn right at the roundabout after a Harvester Pub called the Bells of Ousley for a shortcut to the College through Englefield Green village on the A328.

Car Parking

Please note that car parking on campus is limited to permit holders.  Parking for visitors is normally reserved in advance, usually outside of Founder's Building.  For Open days, UCAS days, special events and conferences parking will be reserved in designated areas on campus that will be clearly marked out.

The following buses stop outside our campus:

• Travel Surrey 441 (Heathrow to Englefield Green).
• First 71 (Heathrow to Slough).

During term time, you can also take advantage of our low-cost College bus service, which runs between Egham railway station and campus, taking around 10 minutes. The College bus leaves from outside the station. When arriving from London, exit the station on the left-hand side to reach the bus stop.
