Visitors to the annual Garden Party at Royal Holloway, University of London showed their true British grit, ignoring bad weather to enjoy a fun packed day of Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Hundreds of visitors attended the annual event to browse the stalls and take part in the arts and crafts on offer, with the College’s community radio, Insanity 103.2 FM, broadcasting live throughout the day.
Visitors were able to receive tours of the Picture Galleries, following the return of the Royal Holloway Collection from its recent tour of the US.
College alumni were also treated to a special performance by the Choir of Royal Holloway at the annual Alumni Reunion Tea.
A large TV screened the BBC programmes showing the Jubilee celebrations in London with the end of the event marked by the National Anthem and visitors toasting the Queen with a glass of fizz.
Royal Holloway Events Manager, Marta Baker said: “We are delighted that in spite of the terrible weather we had a remarkably good attendance. The raffle completely sold out and proved immensely popular with everyone eagerly waiting for the draw. I would like to thank all of the helpers and guides and everyone who helped make the day a success.”
The Garden Party was once again supported by Barclays through a £750 donation and through the support of Nicholas Smith, Barclays community and events manager on the day.
Donations and proceeds from the Garden Party will be donated to the Royal Surrey Appeal.
