On 19th June, 1970s graduates from all departments seized the opportunity to re-connect with the College and fellow alumni. The weekend reunion in June was a phenomenal success with over 300 lively alumni and guests in attendance, some of whom had travelled as far as from the US, Cyprus, Canada, Spain, Thailand and Gibraltar.
The event kicked off on Saturday afternoon in Medicine with various activities for alumni including campus tours, a quiz and year group reunions. Alumni gathered to hear a welcome from SU president, James Pidgeon, while enjoying a Pimms reception, followed by a buffet lunch. James shared College news and compared College life back in the 70s with College life as it is today. A hot buffet and plenty of wine was enjoyed by all and many danced the night away to early hours of the morning. For those who managed to get up in time for breakfast, there was plenty more socialising, followed by another campus tour which included the Picture Gallery.
Our special thanks goes out to Jon Cutter (BSc Computer Science & Mathematics, 1974) and Pete Challinger (BSc Physics, 1974) who invested a lot of time and effort to organise such a fantastic event.
“What a fantastic weekend it has been. Every bit of it was great, especially the disco - my feet are killing me!! We all had a wonderful time. Thanks so much for making it happen. “
