Man Booker prize author a hit in final Lunchtime Reading Series of the year

Staff and students at Royal Holloway, University of London quizzed Man Booker Prize winning author Howard Jacobson about the secret of becoming a successful author at the final Lunchtime Reading Series of the year.

Jacobson read from The Finkler Question – the novel which won him the Man Booker prize in 2010 – and Kalooki Nights, joking that he should have won the Booker prize for both books. 

He chose to read a humorous passage from the The Finkler Question where one of the three main characters is on a date with a young woman – the first date since losing his wife of 60 years – explaining that the novel is a tale of friendship.

After also reading a passage from Kalooki Nights, Jacobson held a question and answer session led by students Prudence Chamberlain and Dimitris Melicertes.
