Research Scholarships 2011-12
We are pleased to announce that the English Department offers a number of postgraduate scholarships for entry in 2011-12 as follows:
One Reid Scholarship offering a tuition fee reduction at the Home/EU rate and a maintenance award of up to £13,250 per annum. Intended for a new PhD student to work with our thriving Creative Writing and Contemporary Poetics research cluster.
One College Maintenance Award offering a maintenance award of £6,000 per annum for up to 3 years (full time) or 6 years (part time) which may be offset against tuition fee payments for a PhD in the area of Private Theatricals and Amateur Dramatics (1780-1900). The candidate will work with Professor Hawley and Dr Elaine McGirr and help forge links with non-HEIs and theatre practitioners outside the academy.
One Crossland Scholarship offering a maintenance award of £5,000 per annum for up to 3 years (full time) or 6 years (part time) which may be offset against tuition fee payments. For a PhD student who will contribute to the interdisciplinary work of the Centre for Victorian Studies and, in particular, explore ways of deriving greater impact from the visual and verbal resources of the college, including the picture gallery and archives of Bedford and Royal Holloway.
Five Fee Waivers one for a PhD in the area of Shakespeare Studies; one for research on Private Theatricals; one for a PhD in Victorian Studies and two in Twentieth Century and Contemporary Literature.
The deadline is Friday 29th April. All applicants for postgraduate research degrees in the relevant areas will automatically be considered. There is no separate application form.
