Support for non-res students

UniSmart 2011|

The College is situated between the small town of Egham and the village of Englefield Green, close to London. The small sizes of the local communities makes Royal Holloway a relaxed and peaceful place to study; the closeness of London gives many opportunities for those wanting to live, visit or do voluntary work in a big city.  The College seeks to Be A Good Neighbour| by contributing fully to the local economy, by supporting local causes with student volunteer help, by encouraging its students to behave considerately in the local area and by encouraging attention to crime-prevention.

The Community Liaison & Support team within Support & Advisory Services are here to support students who are living off-campus in the local area. We are responsible for:

  • Visits to new students (primarily Freshers) living in Egham & Englefield Green at the start of the academic year
  • Welfare support for non-resident students
  • Overseeing & implementing our 'Be A Good Neighbour' strategy - with advice on behaviour in the local area
  • Help with and advice on settling-in issues
  • Community support & support with private sector housing issues
  • Police, Council & Resident liaison
  • Supporting the SU with their 'Love Your Neighbour' and SSHH! (Silent Students Happy Homes) campaigns
