The Hellenic Institute at Royal Holloway, University of London was established in 1993 as a research centre for the study of Hellenism across the centuries, from the Archaic and Classical Greece, through the Hellenistic and Roman times, to Byzantium, the Post-Byzantine period and the modern world. It offers MA programmes and supervision of MPhil/PhD research, hosts a number of research projects and organises seminars, lectures and conferences addressed to students, scholars and to a wider public.

Under the directorship of the late Julian Chrysostomides the Institute expanded its academic and research activities. To honour her memory the Friends of the Hellenic Institute established The Julian Chrysostomides Bursaries Fund. She will be remembered as a true scholar and an affectionate and inspiring teacher.
