As well as printed material, the library has a wide range of electronic resources, many of which can be used on and off campus by RHUL staff and students. Using library e-resources will help you to study and research using quality academic sources that are reliable and regularly updated.
Use MetaLib - an information gateway, like an online library - to search and access our collections of online journals, online databases, websites and e-books. Use the 'Find Resources' tab to search for subject-specific resources. For more information please see the Metalib information guide.
Try using e-books instead, or as well as, printed books for studying and reference. E-books are online copies of printed books, and sometimes books that exist just in electronic form. Search for e-books in MetaLib or in the Library Catalogue. Many e-books can be viewed on or off campus.
E-journals offer online access to full text of journal articles. Search for e-journals in MetaLib and on the Library Catalogue. Many e-journals can be viewed on or off campus.
Accessing e-resources through MetaLib or the Library Catalogue will take you to the resources to which the library subscribes, and to which you as student, or member of staff, will have access.
When searching the Library Catalogue or MetaLib you will come across SFX. SFX is a piece of software which allows you to link to the full-text of a journal article if available. By clicking on the SFX tab a window will appear in which you can choose the first full-text option to link through.
If full-text is not available this option will not be displayed. Instead you will be able to choose another link such as to check within the library's holdings, to check the holdings of other libraries, or to 'Ask a Librarian for help'.
