The fees for Study Abroad vary depending on how long you want to study at Royal Holloway and whether you’re from one of our partner universities.
Always apply through your international office - this way, if you’re a student from one of our partner universities, you’ll be charged a discounted fee.

Scholarships and other funding
As a Study Abroad student, you may be eligible for financial help.

Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarships - These offer up to US $5,000 for semester or academic year programmes and are sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. They are administered by the Institute of International Education. Please see this link for more information.

BUTEX Scholarships - The British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association (BUTEX) Scholarships are open to all undergraduate students currently registered at an institution in the USA or Canada. To be eligible, you must have been offered a place as a Study Abroad student in a UK university which is a member of BUTEX, such as Royal Holloway. Each scholarship is worth £500 and you’ll receive this once you have arrived and registered at Royal Holloway. Please see this link to the BUTEX webpages for more information.

Other financial help - You may be able to receive your current funding while studying abroad. Some universities also have dedicated bursary schemes to help Study Abroad students pay for expenses like flights and health insurance. Find out what your particular university offers.

Weekly living costs
As well as your tuition and accommodation fees, you should budget for about £150 to £160 per week to cover the rest of your costs including meals, local travel, study-related costs, entertainment and other personal items. Approximate weekly livings costs might be as follows:
