Welcome to Academic Administration

Welcome to the Academic Administration website. We hope these webpages will become a first point of information for administrators in academic departments.

Departments are set within one of three faculties - Arts and Social Sciences, Management and Economics, and Science. Each Faculty is headed by a Dean who has overall responsibility for all academic and administrative matters within the Faculty. Departments are led by the Head of Department, usually an academic member of staff from within the department, appointed initially to the role for a three year period. The departmental administrative team, which varies in size depending upon the individual department, is managed by a Senior Faculty Administrator.

The Faculty Managers and Executive Officer work closely with the Deans and are responsible for strategic administrative planning within the Faculty. The Academic Administrative Support Manager  takes responsibility for administrative operational matters and works closely with the Academic Registrar.

Key sections of the Registry e.g. Academic Development; Admissions, Student Support and other College services e.g. Personnel; Finance; Research and Development, have staff assigned to each Faculty.

The Academic Administrative Support Manager aims to support the academic departments in their day to day operation, to develop best practice, to liaise directly with Registry and other College administrative sections over processes, and to facilitate implementations of new procedures. They are also involved with the recruitment and training needs for the departments and act as support for the Senior Faculty Administrators and Heads of Departments.
