The Information Security Group will be holding a Departmental Induction for all new campus-based MSc Information Security students on Thursday 27 September 2012. It is very important that you make every possible effort to attend this induction. This induction will start at 11.00am and will last for approximately one hour.
It will take place in Bourne Lecture Theatre 1. You can find the location of the Bourne building (Building number 31) by looking at the campus plan|. The main entrance is located on the West side of the building. Having gone through this entrance you will need to go down the ramps that are straight ahead of you. Tea and coffee will be available from about 10.15am onwards. During the induction we will be talking about the different tracks available on the MSc and also about important administrative matters.
Lectures
Lectures will start during the week commencing 1st October 2012 and the timetable for the 2012-13 academic year can be found in the adjacent tabs on this page.
Depending on your choice of pathways, full time students will start their lectures either on Monday 1st October or Tuesday 2nd October. As a general rule, we expect all new part-time students to attend on Wednesdays during the Autumn 2012 term. So the first day of lectures for new part-time students will be Wednesday 3rd October 2012. However, if you are a block mode student you will be attending your first block at the end of October / beginning of November.
Welcome Dinner
There is a HEAVILY SUBSIDISED informal buffet on Wednesday 10th October in the evening. If you want to go please make sure that you bring £5 with you; we can collect this from you at the end of the Departmental Induction. This is a very informal event that gives students and lecturers an opportunity to get to know each other.
Identity Check & Enrolment
Do remember that all of you must attend the Identity Check either on the afternoon of the 27th of September (after our Departmental Induction) or during the preceding weekend (on the 22nd/23rd of September). Identity Check takes place in the Windsor Building. If you are living on-campus, or close to the campus, I strongly suggest that you try and attend the Identity Check during the weekend. However, make sure that you satisfy the pre-requisites for attending on this day. Further information can be found on the College Enrolment webpage| or you can visit the Student Administration Centre in person (which is located opposite the Windsor Building).
