Tools for off-campus Library use
There are several ways to access e-journals subscribed to by Royal Holloway from off-campus without following a link from any of the Royal Holloway library applications. If you do this regularly you may wish to install some extra software to simplify the process. Chose from the following options:
or, the Royal Holloway LibX toolbar. Follow the instructions on the page to install in Firefox or Internet Explorer
or, for Firefox users only, install the Zotero plugin.
On reaching an article which is non-accessible from off-campus - assuming that RHUL have paid for the right to use it - go 'back' one step, then select the bookmarklet from your bookmarks. Follow the link to the article a second time and you should be able to access it. This assumes that the link is on the same website as the article

Zotero learns and remembers which articles can be accessed through ezProxy, so they can be accessed automatically. This depends on the user configuring the Zotero plugin first (under preferences/proxies). The first access to the resource has to be routed through ezProxy by some other means (eg from Metalib or SFX, or manually) for Zotero to learn. Once setup this method is very convenient for off-campus use; however, if using a laptop both on and off-campus you may find that Zotero will enforce use of ezProxy even on-campus.
Whichever method you use, the first time in a session you use ezProxy you may be asked to log in using your university login and password.
