The classmarks show you the location of books shelved in the main collection, but when searching for books, you will notice that some books are shelved in smaller collections such as 'Oversize'. If you are not sure where to find a certain collection, a member of staff will advise you at the helpdesk, but below is how to find some of the key collections:

  • Oversize indicates the book is an extra large item. In Bedford, oversize items are shelved together on Level 3.
  • Folio and Quarto indicate the book is an extra large item held in Founder's. Folios and quartos are shelved near the other books in their subject.
  • Founder's Short Loan items including offprints (selected photocopies of journal articles, or book chapters), exam papers, theses, DVDs and videos, are shelved on Ground Floor West next to the helpdesk
  • Bedford Short Loan items including offprints and exam papers are shelved near the entrance next to the helpdesk.
