Women in Physics (WiP) group

 wipThe Women in Physics (WiP) group includes all the women physicists in the department: undergraduate, postgraduate, researchers and academics.

The prograduate, researchers and academic women meet once a month for lunch and the whole group meets about twice a term.

The events that we have had so far:

  • 4th May 2012: Coffee with 4th year women students to discuss PhD studies
  • 8th March 2012: International Women Day  meeting
  • 25th November 2011: Guest: Michelle Tutt, Physics alumnus, Highway Engineer
  • 4th October 2011: Welcome to first years! guest: Dr Jocelyn Monroe, RHUL
  • 25th May 2011: Guest: Prof Bernice from Psychology department at RHUL
  • 10th February 2011: Make ice cream with Jennie our Outreach Officer!
  • 18th January 2011: Coffee with 4th year women student to discuss PhD opportunities
  • 10th November 2010: Guest: Dr Jeanne Wilson from QMUL
  • 27th October 2010: Welcome to first years! Know your women scientists game and report from women that took part in the summer placements
  • 10th March 2010: Guest: Prof Jenny Thomas from UCL
  • 9th February 2010: Guest: Prof Mary Fowler from Earth Sciences RHUL
  • 18th November 2009: Assemble outreach kits with Jennie Lardge, Outreach officer
  • 7th October 2009: Welcome to first years!
  • 25th March 2009: First WiP meeting!
