I am particularly interested in recruiting PhD students with research interests that relate to my current major research project on 'Power, Resistance, and Order in Asia'.  Potential PhD candidates with proposals related to the following specific themes are encouraged to contact me:

- innovative re-conceptualisations of great power politics and strategy in Asia

- empirical studies of evolving regional security dynamics in Central, South or Northeast Asia

- analyses of regional order in Asia and interactions with global order

- diplomatic history studies related to the above
