Turnitin now offers fully anonymous marking. This new development provides tutors with the ability to view and mark students' work without knowing the identity of the author. While students can register with their name and college e-mail, this information is hidden and any requests to view the identity of the sender are controlled and logged by the system.
This feature has now been realised after a long campaign by, among others, Royal Holloway’s Senior Learning & Technology Officer, Martin King. Anonymous marking by default will allow administrators and tutors to hide students' names from their own assignment inbox, from the Originality Report and also from GradeMark (online marking tool) to allow for total anonymity. This means that Turnitin now complies with College regulations on anonymous marking of summative work.
