Conference at British Academy
July 1st to 2nd 2010
Classics and Class

The Centre is delighted to announce that registration is now open for its British Academy-sponsored conference, 'Classics & Class', to be held at the British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH, on July 1st and 2nd 2010. Speakers include Jonathan Rose (Keynote, Author of The Intellectual Life of the British Working Classes), Chris Stray, Ed Richardson, Ekaterina Basargina, Adam Roberts, John Holford, Peter Rose, Paula James, Annie Ravenhill, Graham Oliver, Robert Crawford, Sarah Butler, Richard Alston, Margaret Malamud, and Katharine T. von Stackelberg. In addition, there will be a Performance Event on the evening of July 1st at which poetry and prose looking at the history of Classics through the prism of social class, featuring Tony Harrison and chaired by Peggy Reynolds (BBC's Adventures in Poetry).
Separate registration for both the conference and the event (both of which are free of charge and open to the public) is now open online at http://www.britac.ac.uk/events/2010/classicsandclass/index.cfm. Arts Faculty Interdisciplinary Event

The CRGR is co-organising, with the Media Arts Department at Royal Holloway, a faculty-wide interdisciplinary event at the Egham campus looking at narratives centring on moon travel, from Lucian and Plutarch to the 21st century. All RHUL staff and graduate students are welcome.
