Calendar of Events 2009-2010

January - August Talk Science Year 9
The first of this two stage competition takes place in school. Our Science Outreach Officers will deliver a number of experiments and students will explore and describe how the experiments work. Students then prepare a short presentation to explain the science behind these experiments. In the second stage, the winners from the first competition will be invited to Royal Holloway to take part in a grand final, where they will be asked to deliver another presentation to an audience of school students and Royal Holloway staff members.

Look out for our Edible Geology Activity, taking place at Westminster Kingsway College.

STEM Lego Challenge Year 10
Students will be challenged to prgramme a lego Mindstorm to carry an edd over an obstacle course using computer programming skills.

Ongoing Cryptology Sessions Years 10, 11 and 12
A chance for students to explore the history of code-breaking and find out why cryptography is a vital part of our everyday lives - followed up by a chance to prove their own code-breaking skills! Our Physics Outreach Officer will come into your school or college to deliver the session.
Ongoing Campus Community Garden All years
Our new garden and pond is open for schools and colleges to use for fieldwork.
Ongoing Earthquakes Roadshow Year 10
Year 10 students will explore the phenomenon of earthquakes. The session will explore how and why earthquakes occur and pupils will have the opportunity to make their own straw buildings, which will have to stand up to a jelly earthquake.
