GG1003 - Introduction to Human Geography

Course Leader: Dr David Gilbert

Welcome to the course resources area for Introduction to Human Geography.

This is an introductory course. It aims to give you a common foundation in current strands of human geography. It provides a grounding for subsequent courses in political and economic geography (GG2051A) and in historical and cultural geography (GG2061A).

The resources collected in this area will support the lectures you attend on campus. You will also be able to communicate with your tutor and other students using the Tools contained in Learnwise.

By the end of the course you should be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of the main themes of the course: Global geographies, economic geographies, social geographies, cultural geographies and historical geographies. You should also have an initial familiarity with the work of major thinkers and commentators on these themes, and an awareness of the contribution made by Geography and Geographers in the understanding of the human world.

Good luck!
