
Since its launch in 1996, STARS has so far supported several Olympians and more than 100 athletes with world and national rankings. The STARS scheme currently encourages a wide range of athletes in their quest for sporting success, such as, five students that have recently competed at the Beijing Olympics in various disciplines. Since the development of Performance Sport the scheme now also focusses on our priority sports (see competitive sport for more information) giving more students the opportunity to gain support.
A limited number of Sports Bursaries are offered to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students who are either already attending the College, or who have applied for admission and been accepted onto a course.
Elite Level - Applicants must have an outstanding ability in a particular sport, being currently junior or senior international performers, or showing strong evidence of World Class potential. Applicants must make themselves available to represent Royal Holloway, University of London as part of the College teams or individually, where feasible.
Performance Level - Applicants for this bursary must be competing within on of the BUCS sports (www.bucs.org.uk) and be competeing at a national standard. As bursaries are limited preference will be given to the priority performance sports, however all bursary application will be considered.
