Jobs while you study
Many students like to work part-time during their studies. Graduate employers like students who have gained skills and experience through part-time work or co-curricular activities. Royal Holloway and the local area can offer plenty of opportunities to work and earn some extra money.
Jobs on campus
The vibrant campus community with its retail and food outlets and bars can provide a great starting point. The Students’ Union alone employs over 300 students part-time in security, technical, bar work, catering and entertainment. Students are also employed part-time in several departments around the college. The Facilities Management department employs students in catering and hospitality – from the noodle bar to high profile conferences. For those who can’t get enough books, the library recruits students to work on the loans desk, re-stocking shelves and undertaking administrative work. Students who don’t want to commit to regular work can apply for the many ad-hoc positions advertised throughout the year – from car park attendants to helping with departmental mail shots.
In the local area
The Egham area is a major business hub with corporate headquarters of international corporations, research centres and utilities in the vicinity. Many students find part-time work in the area or in neighbouring Staines or Windsor. There is seasonal work at Legoland, Thorpe Park and Windsor Castle, but also regular work in hospitality at Ascot and local hotels.
